I'm a copywriter with a varied background in marketing, publicity, and corporate communications. Much of my work has been for Web, interactive, new media, and other digital projects, beginning at Warner Bros. Television and continuing at JWTwo (the digital arm of J. Walter Thompson), MediaCatalyst, and other freelance jobs.
At JWTwo, I wrote several major sponsored interactive Web sites, including conceiving and creating interactive voice messages, SMS texts, e-mails, user-form error messages, moderator guides, and meta tags/search engine optimization.
For Warner Bros. Television, I co-created and wrote a weekly updated, deep-content fictional Web site for Smallville (2002 PROMAX Award winner), along with various other WBTVG client promotions, and I provided content for other business-to-business and consumer Web sites under WBTVG's aegis, including conceiving and writing a widely publicized, high-end commercial partnership with Toyota and Saatchi & Saatchi titled "Smallville Legends: Justice & Doom," an expansive online experience that also involved viral, mobile, and real-world elements.
During my 14 years as Manager of Written Services in the marketing, publicity, and creative services departments at Warner Bros. Television, I also performed extensive writing, copy editing, and proofreading of almost all of the written information generated by the division, including a wide variety of online materials. Among the documents I was responsible for were press releases, press kits, story lines, newsletters, trade show materials, ad copy, and a host of other written information. I also wrote for
Smallville magazine and wrote and copy edited
The O.C. Insider magazine during that time.
I am currently freelancing in the Publishing Services department at Scholastic Inc.
